Hi Shamen,
first of all, thank you very much for your availability.
Through these interviews, we want Atlas Earth players to get to know the people behind the biggest names in the game a little better.
I’ll try to keep things respectful and not too intrusive, but I may ask a few personal questions too — feel free to answer only what you’re comfortable sharing.
First of all: would you like us to call you Shamen, or would you prefer to share your real name?
Shamen:
Shamen is fine.
Is there a story behind your in-game name “Shamen”?
Shamen:
Yes. I am a meditator, very spiritual, and I also invest in unorthodox investments.
Are you American? And where are you based?
Shamen:
American. Pennsylvania.
How old are you?
Shamen:
49 in May.
Can I ask, in general terms, what you do in real life?
Shamen:
I retired from being president of a family-owned mechanical contracting business two years ago. I consult now and provide financial and leadership mentorship.
Here in Italy the game arrived later: we all know you as the world’s #2 player, but we didn’t follow your journey from the beginning. We’ve heard about your intense competition with The King Of Queens — can you tell us how it went? Is that chapter closed, or never say never?
Shamen:
Yes, that chapter is closed. The CEO has made it clear there are caps for the larger players of 150K. I have moved to more lucrative crypto investments and only view AE as a hobby. I will not put any further personal money in the game.
Are you in contact with other top players, or are you more of a “solo” player?
Shamen:
Very good personal relationship with KOQ. I DM about 4-6 people on Discord.
How did you start playing Atlas Earth? Do you remember where you placed your very first parcel?
Shamen:
I saw an ad and it interested me, and I believe my first property was in PA.
Can you walk us through your journey — from your first parcel to the moment you realized you wanted to truly “dominate” the game? Was there a specific turning point?
Shamen:
I am very competitive. I started when I originally retired, and before I started consulting I needed a hobby. AE at that time made sense.
Do you still do “regular player” activities like spinning the wheel or playing minigames, or do you now focus only on management and optimization?
Shamen:
Yes, I am active, just won’t put any additional personal funds in. All investment comes from badges, diamond wheel, and mini games.
According to our calculator, your earnings exceed $4,000 per month — a number that feels almost unreal to many players. At the same time, we imagine your investments are also significant: have you ever thought in terms of return on investment, or is that not really a concern for you?
Shamen:
Yes, that is why I will not put any more money in the game. The return is horrible for AE. They say it is 15%, but it’s not because you don’t breakeven for 8-10 years, so that’s not an accurate return. Worse than that, they are calling any profits income, which it’s not because of the original amount invested that will take even longer than 8-10 if taxable income.
Looking back: is there anything you would have done differently, or would you follow the exact same path again?
Shamen:
I would not have invested any personal money.
You are one of the very few players directly affected by the 150k parcel cap discussion: how did you react to that decision by the developers?
Shamen:
No reaction really. That will almost surely reduce drastically anyone trying to do what the larger players did in the past. I look at it as a very unethical business practice. The CEO that runs the company is very immature in my opinion.
Say what you want, but his story was we need to be fair. How is putting caps on people who invested the most personal money in the game fair when it only impacts the top couple players? This makes his statement false, which makes his business tactics unethical.
It won’t affect me — I stopped investing — but I feel for KOQ. He still believes in the model and is at 147,296. This will make it almost impossible for him to ever break even no matter how long he plays.
Is there something you think most players completely underestimate in the game?
Shamen:
Yes, how long it takes to breakeven if you put any personal money in the game.
What improvements would you like to see in Atlas Earth going forward?
Shamen:
I would like to see them stop adding more things like Atlas Games. I would like them to increase their advertising and perfect the stuff that is already fun as they have, increase the payouts like they have done a couple times, and get rid of the 150K max.
Like it or not, the larger players help fund the game, which helps improve the game.
Do you still have personal goals in the game? Maybe going back to #1… or are you in a more relaxed phase now?
Shamen:
No goals. I focus on GoMining, where most of my funds have moved. You make real money from day 1 and 30-50% profit a year. My YouTube channel analyzes both with detailed financial info.
Have you ever been to Italy?
Shamen:
No, but I want to very bad.
And for new players: what is the single most important piece of advice you would give?
Shamen:
Do not put personal money in the game. Play ads, mini games, and collect badges. You will make money this way — it’s the only way.
I really think AE with the right leadership would bring the full potential out of this app, but I doubt that will happen.
Interview by ItAtlas for the Atlas Earth World Leaders series.
Ciao Shamen,
Sei americano? E dove vivi?
Shamen:
Sì, sono americano. Vivo in Pennsylvania.
Quanti anni hai?
Shamen:
Shamen:
Ho un ottimo rapporto personale con KOQ. Scrivo in privato con circa 4-6 persone su Discord.
Come hai iniziato a giocare ad Atlas Earth? Ti ricordi dove hai piazzato il tuo primo parcel?
Shamen:
In quel momento Atlas Earth aveva senso.
Shamen:
Sì: quanto tempo ci vuole per andare in pari se ci metti soldi personali.
Che miglioramenti vorresti vedere in Atlas Earth in futuro?
Shamen:
Shamen:
No, non ho obiettivi.
Shamen:
No, ma mi piacerebbe moltissimo.
