⸻
6) Quanti terreni possiedi attualmente? E quanti titoli hai?
⸻
⸻
10) Con quali leader parli più spesso?
Ho parlato con Lews, Pandora e King of Queens.
⸻
⸻
15) Vedi il gioco crescere in Galles? Avete community attive come in Italia?
XD

⸻
1) Could you tell us a bit about yourself? What’s your real name, how old are you, and why did you choose the alias “markusmax”?
Hello and thank you for inviting me for this interview.
My real name is Mark and I am in my early 30s. Markusmax is a name I used for gaming and have used it in previous games I played such as LifeAfter Nightfalls. I continued on with this name in Atlas Earth and have it down as markusmax on my YouTube channel.
I had many nicknames growing up from family, friends and work colleagues such as Sparticus, markusmax, marky sparky, maximus or markusmaximus.
I took a great interest in the Roman era and loved the history of Rome and the names that were often used back then. So I stuck with the gamer name markusmax.
⸻
2) What do you do in real life outside of Atlas Earth?
I have worked in adult social care coming up to 14 years now. It all began with someone I used to know who had bipolar and borderline personality disorder and from there I was interested in learning and doing my best to help and support where I could. This meant researching and placing my head in books. From there I decided to apply for that line of work.
I started off working with autism where I supported young adults on each side of the spectrum and with learning disabilities and mobility needs, working alongside medical professionals such as speech and language therapists, psychiatrists, physiotherapists and working in multi disciplinary teams to give individuals the best quality care.
I went on to work in mental health for a good number of years supporting those with schizophrenia, bipolar, and other mental health. The list goes on. However I find it rewarding but as well it can be challenging.
I cherish time with my family and friends. They mean the world to me.
In my spare time I hit the gym and I have the occasional drink too. Do love a vodka. Oh and cider. 😉
⸻
3) How long have you been playing Atlas Earth?
I can’t really recall the exact date, but my best guess would be around October/November 2024.
⸻
4) How did you first discover Atlas Earth, and what was your early experience like?
I used to play games to earn a little bit of cash on Money Well and JustPlay. I also used to earn from survey apps such as PawnsApp. I think I stumbled across Atlas Earth through an ad whilst playing a game to earn money.
My early experience, well I was interested with the ad I seen, so from there I done some research before downloading the app to see if it was legitimate and trustworthy and to see if it actually pays out. Now with all that done and confirmed I downloaded the app.
Straight away I could see this game is not a get rich quick game and it’s going to be one hell of a grind to start seeing some good income. I however do love the grind so it was perfect for me. Rome weren’t built over night as they say.
⸻
5) How did the idea of becoming First Minister of Wales come about? Why did you decide to invest seriously in the game?
If I am completely honest I never really tried to aim for First Minister of Wales. This came later on in the game where I decided to take my home city where I was born which so happened to be quite a large city.
I moved from my home city around 6 years ago up the valleys so I gained my first mayorship where I lived. From there I decided to drive around and pick at small towns where there weren’t many parcels bought by others. I guess I just wanted to fill my lists of mayorships at the time.
I looked in on my home city of birth and there was quite a few hundred parcels bought from the Mayor at the time so I thought I won’t get it. As time went on I had the urge more and more to take it. That’s when I took the plunge to buy Atlas Buck packs.
Upon taking that city I so happened to take governor at the same time. As it was I weren’t too far behind First Minister. I knew the First Minister weren’t playing the game much as I kept an eye on his parcel count. Just a little bit more I said. So I bought another pack to over take. It was not so much planned but it was an impulse purchase of packs. I do impulse buy a lot which isn’t always a good thing. But I did feel I achieved a huge milestone in the game at this point.
To take the mayorship of the city I was born. And then to defend my titles thereafter.
⸻
6) How many parcels do you currently own? And how many titles do you hold?
I own at the moment around 2400 and recently made it into the top 500 globally. I know this isn’t much compared to some players but we got to start somewhere right.
Currently I hold 24 titles and currently looking to expand this further.
⸻
7) Do the AB you earn from your titles play an important role in your strategy? Are you satisfied with the return?
Yes and no. The return from badges bought isn’t that great compared to say England or the rest of the countries. A big part of me thought was spending money to gain these positions worth it. But as I have it I think I’ll keep a hold of it.
Yes because it does give me that edge and boost in Atlas Bucks over those who are better in the mini games. So it does help in that aspect.
⸻
8) Tell us about your playing style. Do you prefer accumulating and defending your territory, or do you sometimes take an offensive approach?
From what I learnt from gaining titles: unless you’re a heavy spender then have at as many titles as you want if you are prepared to spend to keep a hold of them all. But if you are an average spender, maybe only have a handful or so. You will have to be prepared to lose titles if you go crazy and take a lot, especially if you are not prepared to pay in to the game forever.
Eventually I will be on the defensive rather than offensive. I have had to regain titles that was taken from me in the past.
⸻
9) Would you consider yourself a “whale” in the game? Do you have contact with other Atlas Earth leaders?
I’m not sure. A whale to some people might be different to other people. We can say those like KingOfQueens, Shamen, Stealth, Count Maximus, Lews and Pandora are huge whales.
But yet some may believe the amount I spent on the game to be a lot therefore class me as a whale. Let the public decide that one.
Yes.
⸻
10) If so, which leaders do you speak with most often?
I have spoken to Lews, Pandora and King of Queens.
⸻
11) Do you have any local rivals who threaten your position, or are you more concerned about sudden attacks from American players, as happened in Italy?
Yes there is but one. But I had taken my First Minister title back from him.
I was concerned about this for a long time. But then as I have held the position of First Minister of Wales for some time now and seeing what return I get from badges, I can honestly say I’m not too concerned now. From my point of view it would be a complete waste of money for them.
I have had days where I get 0 bucks from badges. Some days 80 and others 100. Recently everyone who subscribed to Atlas Games on YouTube got 400 free AB so that payout for badges was 500. Most I ever had and probably ever will in one go.
⸻
12) Do leaders of different countries actually talk to each other about strategies, expansions or ways to avoid unnecessary conflicts? Have you ever spoken with Lews, considering how close England is to Wales?
The short answer is yes, leaders from all over do communicate with each other and if you become good friends and uphold a level of respect it can avoid unnecessary conflicts.
I lost my First Minister once and I had gotten into conversation with KingOfQueens. He gave me some advice on getting it back and his words were “you can do it”. Thanks dude, I done it.
Yes, I have spoken to Lews a fair bit about other countries and talking of possible outcomes in the future regarding who may take a flight to take a country and thoughts around it and if there will be any kinds of retaliation if needed to regain titles.
⸻
13) Do you have plans to expand outside of Wales, or is your focus mainly on defending what you’ve already conquered?
I have thought about it. Can’t say I haven’t. I could possibly and at one stage I was pricing up flights myself. But at the moment I am quite content defending what I have already conquered.
⸻
14) What is the game like from the perspective of a First Minister? Do you still earn AB through ads, surveys and mini-games?
Being First Minister is nice and all but I believe being a country leader should not alter your ego in any shape or form. We are all equal, we are all people and therefore treat everyone the same way you like to be treated. With respect.
I do watch ads now and again for the 1AB but I can’t say I do this religiously every 20 minutes. I might just watch 1 ad a day.
Surveys I used to be big on but it’s really frustrating being kicked and timed out 90% of the time so I don’t do surveys no more unless it’s for the challenge ladder.
I am big on playing mini games. It’s a great source of income for Atlas Bucks. I believe if people want to grow fast then get doing mini games and keep getting better at them. Getting better at mini games is not done quickly. It takes time so don’t be discouraged.
⸻
15) Do you see the game growing in Wales? Do you have active local communities like the ones we have in Italy?
I’m not too sure about this with such a small population in Wales. However over time new players will start their journey in Atlas Earth whilst others may stop. It’s all down to advertisements and getting it out there.
Yes there is a Facebook page called Atlas Earth UK which I am a moderator of. I look over the page closely day in and day out. It holds roughly 1.3k members and growing.
It’s lovely to see people asking questions and people helping others with their questions. It’s a friendly page so make sure to take a peek in on it.
There are other unofficial Discord channels where people can chat and communicate more.
⸻
16) Is there any aspect of Atlas Earth that you’d like to see improved? What new features would you love to see in the future?
Yes I would like to see Atlas Earth bring back the refer a friend with referral codes. This will help expand the player base within the game and encourage players to join in your own countries.
I would also like to see other ways to log in to verify your account such as through your phone number in case you aren’t able to log into your emails if you’ve forgotten your password. Last thing people want is to lose their accounts.
⸻
17) What advice would you give to new players who want to grow? Especially in a small country like Wales.
I would ask new players to do their research on Atlas Earth and watch YouTube channels such as Bronze Dragon and BeerMoney. They explain a lot in detail around the game and can pretty much answer all questions with their videos.
I would also suggest learning the boost rates and its tiers and use the Atlas Earth calculator which can be found in Google, giving people an idea what to do and what steps to take. For example when to buy parcels and when to buy badges. This also allows you to see how much you are making daily, monthly and yearly.
Ideally buy parcels where you live and where you work and try to gain mayorships. These are the places you will be at the most. Then perhaps look to expand your mayorships in other locations.
Don’t spend what you are not willing to lose. Atlas Earth have the right to close its servers at any point in time. So keep that in mind. Treat this as a game.
Get good at mini games. This is definitely going to be a game changer to growing your account as opposed to grinding with arcade games and surveys alone.
Join the community wherever you may be. Start interacting with other players of Atlas Earth and share your gaming experiences.
Above all, have fun.
⸻
18) Have you set any personal goals? For example, a specific monthly rent you would like to reach.
Yes my goal was to earn 1 dollar per day on average as many would have had this same goal. I have surpassed this a while ago.
The goals I have today is to maintain my titles and keep an eye out for other locations that’s near by. But if not I’m happy with what I got for titles currently.
So it’s just the case of purchase parcel now and watching my rent increase with it.
⸻
19) What is your current monthly rent at the moment?
77.20 dollars at the moment.
⸻
20) Do you usually withdraw your AB, or do you reinvest everything to keep growing?
It’s about half and half. I have withdrawn and I have reinvested in for more bucks. It’s what I feel like doing at the time.
Taking a new mayorship usually encourages me to reinvest to get a better lead.
⸻
21) With so many new countries joining the game, do you think Atlas Earth has a long future ahead? And do you believe there’s still enough time to recover investments?
Yes, I do believe Atlas Earth got a long future ahead. Atlas Earth are coming up with new ideas in which they can make money such as the new Atlas Games. Promoting the games to views far and wide through YouTube using their marketing budget.
And do I believe there’s still enough time to recover investments? I hope so. No one really knows. But it’s the risk people take. I would like to think so.
⸻
22) Are you willing to spend more to continue growing if needed?
Yes, I spent over £15,000–£20,000 in my previous game LifeAfter Nightfalls. I haven’t spent near as much as that in Atlas Earth. But if I need to swipe the card, I will if needed to maintain and defend.
⸻
23) Do you have any fun, interesting or memorable anecdotes from your experience that you’d like to share with the community?
Well I’m sure many of us have been here before trying to gain a mayorship. Going out and driving a far way because you want a mayorship and having no signal when you get there.
So my partner and I wanted to hit the beach on a hot summers day. We brought our picnic blanket and snacks. I stated we can do this after I claim this mayorship first.
We ended up walking in a load of sand dunes and walking in forestry holding my phone to the sky hoping for at least one bar of signal. Safe to say we did not make it to the beach and safe to say my misses was not happy lol. What an experience.
⸻
24) And finally: would you like to say a few words to the Italian ItAtlas community?
Yes, I would like to say I love Italy and love Rome. Love the history and its architecture and enjoyed visiting Pompeii.
One let down when I went. I could not for the life of me find any cider in any shops or bars. I searched high and low but nope. No cider. That needs to get looked at. Got to have cider. XD
